I'm trying out Glide64 + eVoodoo to get rid of the infamous flickering problem. Well, that flickering is gone, but now the battle menu and status bar flicker when in battle! Here's my configs: eVoodoo 4.0 ======== True Color (32bits) FSAA: off Fog: on Fast Alt Z-Buffer: on Triple Buffer: on Texture Filtering: on Screen Smoothing(nVIDIA): on Fullscreen: on Glide64 ===== Resolution: 800x600 Filtering: force bilinear Depth Buffer: Z-Buffer Fog: on Buffer Clear Every Frame: on VSYNC: off Buffer Swapping: new The eVoodoo is the new public beta, and it fixed my previous problem: Sound and Controls worked, but only a black screen. Thanks in advance! |

Try using the 'hybrid' buffer swapping method. The problem might also be evoodoo, I hate to say it because it usually doesn't cause too many problems but the flickering might be due to the fact that you aren't using native glide (you are using a sort of synthetic/emulated glide, the glide is converted into a form understandable by your video card by evoodoo). You also might want to try turning off the buffer clear every frame (although i don't expect it to do anything positive) and the forced filtering (although that prolly won't do anything either, it is worth munkeying about with) Good Luck. |

Thanx, the hybrid buffer swapping method seemed to fix the menu flickering. Also, while the flickering in toad town is now fixed, shooting star summit still displays the symptoms, and sometimes the text inside the text bubbles is missing.:eyes: I think I'll play the game on Pete's D3D, or an OpenGL plugin if I can get one to work (damn opcodes). Hope this thread helps someone! |

The flickering on the shooting star mountain seems to be worse than anywhere else (it is also almost that bad in the goomba king's castle), you just have to live with it... Playing the game with any other plugin isn't the best way to run his game because most of the other plugins still exhibit the extreme flickering. I believe that the TR64 OGL plugin is your best bet. Good Luck. |

Right, I'll have to put up with some kind of glitch or issue either way, but I think the missing text and other graphical anomalies produced by Glide64 are worse than those of the flickering in other plugins.
