Banjo-Kazooie Pause Menu Problems

In Banjo-Kazooie the Pause screen is all garbled and buggered (see attached screen of GLide 64 and TR 64 OGL). This (largest, background) screen was taken while using GLide 64 0.41, but the graphical errors occur with other plugs also.

These graphical errors are half the issue, the other half is that when the option 'view totals' (allows one to see what they have in each level) or 'save and quit' (self explanatory ) are selected from the little menu that appears the game locks up.

When using any plugin besides GLide 64 the error message 'Failed to load Word, Veryify ROM and ROM settings' (A screen of TR64 OGL and the lock-up + error message are in the bottom right part of the screen, Hope you all enjoy my fully comprehensive and labeled screenshots  ) pops up.

I know that this has come up before, but I am SURE that this ROM is a good one, GoodN64 verifies it as such and I have a repatched copy (I applied a patch to the ROM even though it isn't 'bad') also that still exhibits this problem (and the game works perfectly everywhere else).

Does anyone else experience this problem? And if so were you able to fix it, and how... If it is just me getting this then it is probably just a bad dump .

I was using my Voodoo 5 when these errors occured, but they also occur when using my GeForce 2.

As you can tell from the screens (and the location of the post), I am using Project64 (I haven't had a chance to reinstall any other emulators yet, so we have to just work with PJ for now...).

Thanks in advance...

About the garbled pause screen all you have to do is check to on the option"self rendered textures" in the "rom settings" menu under the "configure graphics plugin" tab and off course I'm talking about JaboD3D 1.5...
I don't thing there's a way to get it work under Glide nor TR64 plugin...
After that, if you STILL get a garbled pause screen (and I'm suspecting the other problem with "save & exit" and "view totals" because I had these problems before and it was a bad rom! I DL another copy of B-K and everything went fine, fixed pause screen, save & exit and view totals) then you have to start thinking (sadly I know...) about a new try to download it...
And one advice: You MUST see the save & exit animated sequence because is hillarious! DL a new copy of B-K NOW!

The Reason why the pause screen looks like garbage because it trying to read from the frame buffer for the picture it took before you paused to put it in the backround, but Glide64 doesnt have Framebuffer enabled yet, for TROGL you must turn on Use Framebuffer.

O.K. Thanks guys . It probably is just a bad ROM (and the pause screen works fine w/Jabo's D3D + frame buffer )

acepower: I own B-K for N64, so I have seen the hilarious quit scene... But it would be soooo much better if I could see it on my computer

OK. Let us know if it is a bad rom or not when you get a good B-K from another source.I'm really curious...

CPUMaster:

Its not a bad rom, its fine.

I'm talking about the 'view totals' and 'save and exit' crashing, not the bad pause screen background (what you both suggested worked perfectly to fix that problem).

Although the ROM is verified as being good there is no other explanation for the crashing...

acepower:

Will do Might be awhile, I don't have a working flasher to flash my cart (I think it might be dead, its been awhile) and I have a 56k connection as of now... sooo that means I have to rely on friends for a new copy...

I'll just do another delete-post-bump when I do work this out, so as to inform you.
