.ROM extension?
It's the first N64 rom iv'e come across with this extension, just wandering why it's different? I was told that .z64 and .v64 were the only valid extensions but this extension seems to work fine. Iv'e run the rom through GoodN64 and it keeps it as .ROM and it recognizes it. The game is Zelda: OoT, iv'e downloaded two different versions of it (v1.0) and (v1.2) both .ROM extensions. Could someone please give me some info on it. Thanks. |

I have several .ROM files and they all work fine. .Z64 and .V64 are not the only extensions for n64 roms. Other possible extensions: .BIN, .N64, .U64 and others.

I have a Super Smash Bros ROM that is in EXE form. The only way to get PJ to recognize it is to put it in a storage-quality zip. The ROM works fine, but is unusable (won't be recognized) unless it is archived. The flashing software that is used determines the file extension, some give an option to the user allowing the person flashing to make messed up file extensions. |

The file extension is meaningless .. (except where .zip) .. it looks at the file and determines if it a valid n64 rom and the format of the rom based on the first 4 bytes. Rename extnesion to anything you like and the rom will work just the same
