Question Zelda oot Master Quest

What does it differ with the other version, is an expansion? or only the same game for game cube console?

this is the same one that comes on the gamecube DVD disc AFAIK. The some how ripped it from the disc...interesting though that this proves that it's a HLE emulator being used to emulate the game on the GC  Not like I have much use for the rom since I'm playing it already on my GC but I might try it out just because I can see it at a higher resolution

If it's true it is emulated on the GC, I'm curious to know if this "compatibility layer" would also be modifiable to help out "other" N64 games.... Interesting.

Hrmmm. You mean that the 'bonus' Zelda that comes with Windwaker is available in a ROM form that works with a N64 emulator? First time i heard of it I heard that it is the Japanese version with different dungeons and such that has been translated to Engrich.

Intriguing... Wonder where it came from?

They probably just cut a few wires and connected the GC to their PC..

What is the file name? (I'm curious  ) is it of the .N64, .ROM, .Z64, .V64, etc. file format? Or is it a BIN rip...?

Again, just curious. If this is possible, it means some interesting things for a possible GCN emulator, and could lead to some interesting developments with N64 emulation also. Again, this is very interesting stuff (maybe I'm just bored... )

Yep, V64, but, as for N64 emulation on GCN, you'd need a DVD burner capable to bur, GameCube discs, and your GameCube would have to accept burnt DVDs, which I'm not sure if it does.

I don't think you'd be able to put a regular size dvd or cd inside the gamecube, would you? I haven't even tried myself (no point), and the gamecube mini-discs are so damn small.

Yeah, forgot to add that you'd have to find special mini DVDs

I'm just contemplating fantastic, yet improbable possibilities... :disgust:

This isn't the first time such a thing has happened (HLE emulated ports). Look at the Chrono Trigger PSX release, the ROM bin is on the CD.

the game was originally released in japan on the n64 dd drive used in conjunction with oot to change dungeons and breath new life into the game. the dd drive was never released here but perhaps someone ripped the game from a japanese dd drive?

Actually, I have been asking around some more, and I have discovered that the game was probably originally coded for N64, meaning that the game almost certainly exists on a playable N64 cart somewhere (for testing/compatibility, etc. purposes, such 'pre-release-carts' are known to exist). One of these carts probably just fell into the hands of someone who knew how to work a flasher (and who owned one ) and as a result is now *all* over the internet. If you look inside all of the copies of this 'ROM' I would be willing to bet that they are all identical.

It is still a way kool thing to play with and theorize about though

its not an n64 version nor the dd one. its the gamecube version. the proof was discussed in another thread. fo exemple, they used the "L" button. the button colors were changed to match the gamecube controller and at the beginning it says 2003
