i use both of the emus listed above, and they run fine, except the sound in both is about a half second off, all the time. it happens the exact same way with all roms, and with both emu. i tried both audio plugins with pj64 (jabo and zilmar), adjusted the buffer, etc. no difference. the roms are tested and perfect, and are supported by the emus. (thps2 and mario kart are the ones i want to work the most...) my system is more than good enough to run the roms and i dont have any sound issues in any other programs, just with n64 emus.... my sound card is onboard ac 97, c-media, no conflicts running win xp home 512 ram 128 mb radeon 9000 athlon xp 1800 please help!!! thx!! |

Sound delay is caused by the fact that the sound goes through the RSP part of the emulator first directly before coming into the sound plugin, before being outputted. Obviously, even with the best system, sound is going to be delayed, and using the "Sync game to sound" option will, no doubt, slow the game down slightly if not greatly. This means skipping frames so that the video follows the sound correctly. This only works 90% of the time with games though, and is still subject to slowdowns caused by the game (e.g., Yoshi's Story). The Nintendo 64 has no sound delay whatsoever because sound data is directly outputted from the RSP chip to your television set. Less processing required. In short, deal with it. Nothing can be done about it unless you have a supercomputer (which I seriously doubt).

I also use the same card and get some choppy sound with N64 emus. I think its a driver problem. I ll reply to this thread whever i solve this problem. Oh, and using Sync audio to game didnt help a bit, at least in my case Yours, -Elly
