problem:

pressing "start" key results in a relatively long pause until the start-screen (map, inventory, etc) is shown

my system:

512 mb ram
sapphire radeon 9700
catalyst 3.2
windows xp with sp1
project 64 1.5 standard (no add-ons)

solution:

(i tried disabling anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, but no improvement)

I'm afraid this is a known issue, 'known issue' meaning that there is really nothing that you can do about it but use a different video plugin (hey, I get the same problem with that video plugin).

The game is still playable with the Jabo plugin, just press F4 to turn off speed limiting for the duration of the subscreen loading and then press it again to slow thing down again. With your nice system it should work fine. Good luck!

so the only way to play it properly with jabo plugin is to press f4 all the time?? no, i don't think thats worth it... (

hmm, do you know an alternative video plugin that is as good as the jabo one or better?

thanks!

You might want to try Nemu64 (the new version that was just released). You can still use jabo's d3d 1.5 plugin with this emu, and the problem won't occur.

1964 and Nemu does the same thing, but I would use Nemu 0.8 and there is no sub screen delay, but with 1964 and PJ64 does

For some reason there are all kinds of problems with the subscreen in OoT... the map and such is all pixelated and unreadable for me using Jabo Direct3D 1.5 on PJ 64... but not in 1964. How odd.

honestly, pressing F4 isn't that hard

And to get the listings of game issues simply change the 'ROM selection' tab to include the core and video notes.

Playing through the entire game with no frame limit (F4, of course) is more fun It's no harder, and it just gets you through the more annoying parts faster (such as the damn owl, the annoying laugh of the giant faries, every cursed speach, ect. ect.). Fun stuff ^_^

Try playing Mario64 on no-frame-limit (FPS at least 150 (!) ). Anyone who can beat the game while playing like that the entire time deserves a award of some sort.
