Help with N64 eulation

First of all, I am a total newbie to N64 emulation. I never bothered because I could never get anything above 20FPS. What would you all recommend for a crappy computer like mine listed below.

Pent 4 1.7 Ghz
256 MB ram
32 MB integrated Open GL Intel video card
Soundblaster pro
Windows xp home
DirectX 9

With this config I should at least be able to play Mario right? I have paper mario, zelda majoras mask, zelda ocarina, and donkey kong 64 also, that I would love to play, as I traded in my N64 towards a PS2. Do you think I could play any of these at all, even in a small window?

or is there a faq that helps with what PJ64 version, plugins, and settings to use? Thanks for any advice, and sorry if the info is already here, I couldnt find it and that makes me even a bigger idiot.

Its best to have at least a TNT card to use with N64 emu. You can try lowering the resolution, switiching to 16 bit mode and disabling the limit FPS option. Otherwise, It would be best for you to get a new card.

Thanks I thought so. Is the newest version of the emu's themselves the best ones generally or does it vary by which game you're playing.

You might want to try using the glide plugin, I find that they generally run faster on machines with bad video cards then the D3D and OpenGL plugins.
