You must have 3D acceleration in order to run this emulator. Either D3D, OpenGL or Glide must be supported. I assume that you have an oboard video, so maybe it has D3D acceleration (probably a poor acceleration). Make sure to have the most updated drivers for your video, and try Jabo's D3D plugin.

Check your video adapter inside the device manager in the Control Panel and tell us which video adapter you have. You can also run DirectX's DXDiag that comes with DirectX and you can test your card's acceleration under D3D.

If I am right compaq presario 5000 must be having an intel 810 based chipset.(thats same as mine).

I would suggest using d3d plugin (infact its the only good option for that card).

It seems that you have the same onboard video as Prafull. He should be able to help you better, but I'm pretty sure Jabo's D3D is your best option.

Ok. Here's a few thing I am having probloms with:

1. When I open Project 64 and the graphics plug-in is set to Jabo's Direct3D6 1.40 or Jabo's Direct3D7 1.40 it comes up with an error saying: Direct 3D failed to initialize your HAL device make sure you have a properly configured 3D graphics card compatible with Direct3D 6.0.

2. After I click OK another error comes up saying: The default or selected video plugin failed to initialize. Most functions have been disabled. Consult plugin documentation or select another plugin.

3. And now I can't do anything!!!

Please help me.

Try getting updated drivers from Intel and update your DirectX to the latest version.

Jabo's plugin is best bet with 810e .

Those error messages suggest either you have older version of drivers for your graphics controller .Install the latest drivers( http://www.intel.com will help you to download them) or you have older version of directx (upgrade to 8.1 in my opinion).

OK I went to Intel.com and downloaded the latest graphics driver and from what I have seen it makes the icons on the desktop look a little better (I think). But when I right click on the desktop it takes a few seconds for the little dialog box to come up. damn. Well anyways I rebooted by computer and tried to run Project 64 again and It says exactly the same thing as it did before about the failing to initialize my HAL or whatever. I even tried opening it from the actual rom and it still doesnt work!!!! What is wrong with my computer!!!! :@

Well, since it's a compaq, the chip may be designed differently. try going to compaq.com and getting the 810 driver from them, you may also try right clicking your my computer icon going to properties then advanced, then go to graphics. make sure that full acceleration is on. other than that, this seems like a very weird problem:eyes:

Im not sure if this is related. (sry if its not) But sometimes I get an error in Nemu. I forget what it is. But try changing your colors in Desktop properties. First try 16bit, then try the rest of em.

He has a good point.. he has a V3, which can't do 32 bit rendering. i dont know about the 810, but its worth a shot, and most likely to do the trick, nice one Reich
