Question Project64 graphic glitches

The last time I used an N64 emu was UltraHLE a few years ago, so I'm a little unsure of how to correctly set up Project64. I've gotten graphics glitches in just about every game I've tried, and was wondering if I'm doing something wrong. (I'm running on a GF2 Pro w/ the 28.32 Dets.)

Question

Mario64: Notice the squashed-looking text. I'm not sure if this is the cart or a graphical setting.

MarioParty3: "Broken" horizontal lines streak across some graphics, noticeable here in the title and start text.

Question

So. I'm not sure what to try now, if it's the carts or the emu itself because like I said I've been out of N64 emus for a while. I've tried the 1.4 and 1.5b versions of Project64 as well as several other GPU plugins like Jabo's D3D6 and 7, Jabo's OpenGL and TR64 OpenGL (which didn't even work, I think), and RCP's D3D.

Any ideas?

Thumbs up

Groovy. I came across the Project64 FAQ and see one of my problems is that I'm using the European carts. Unfortunately now I've noticed that the sound is pretty crackly running Jabo's Dsound 1.40 plugin.

Turn off T&L; that feature was experimental only.

I'm guessing your copy of Mario 64 is PAL. The browser notes do state that the text is bad with the PAL roms.

Yeah using direct 3d T&L is what is causing all most all of your graphic glitches...

Thumbs down

Yep I posted a few above that it turns out they're European after all. As for T&L I'll disable it, I figured since it was common on games it should be on.

(EDIT-) The sound plugin suggested above actually made it 200 times worse. Unfortunately disabling T&L didn't solve the problems, each of the ones I 'shot above still exists.

Ok thanx Morgan but there still one thing. I tried playing Spiderman the Movie on PC and it says that I need a T&L capable card. I have a 3D Prophet 64mb, so is capable of doing that and if yes how do i activate it?

Question

Can you be more specific? What type of Prophet card? (Brand? Prophet II GTS? 4500? 4000XT?) The Prophet 4500's KyroII chipset doesn't, if I remember correctly. If that's the one you've got, your SOL.

Ahh ok, didn't notice before.

Yeeeesh... In that case, you're definitely screwed. The 4000XT is a Kyro I chipset and doesn't have T&L. How long ago did you get it? Must be a while since it's still using PCI, so you might want to look into a new card. I'm a strong advocate of the GF4 Ti4200, the best combination of price and performance right now... It can be overclocked to around 4600 levels and is only $150. Check out NewEgg.com if it sounds like something you'd want to look into.

I just edited my previous post before you posted again. Yeah, you're a little behind with a PCI card. Check out what I edited in above; if your mainboard has an AGP slot you should really consider getting a new card, especially if you're a gamer.

(EDIT-) Actually, if you've got a spare $500 or $600 you might want to overhaul your whole system, build one, or purchase a new one. If you're not already, you're really going to be feeling the burn next year if you still try and run with that setup. (And get a new OS while you're at it, ME is murder for gaming. ^_^)

(EDIT #2-) Where'd you go? I'm interested in how this pans out.

Just went to eat. Ya I know my system sucks. And i dont have lots of money. My parents wont pay any upgrade cuz they say it wont do any difference for them becuz they dont play games. And of course i wouldnt of want off buyin a PCI card if I had an AGP slot so ill make sure next time i buy a pc itll have an AGP slot. Well that raps it up. Little off the original topic but heck! Aniway thx for ya help.
