Also I've noticed the shadows are pink in Glide64. Corn does not have that problem.

If I knew what your system specs were, I'd probably tell you to get a new video card.

I recently played through Mario 64 again on Project64 and the only "bug" I spotted on my GF2 was that the vanish cap literally makes Mario vanish (only his shadow remains). To fix that just needed setting "Force Normal Blending" in the last tab of Jabo's D3D plugin, but as that caused some other graphical glitches it's not recommended to be left permanently on.

As for pink shadows, you might want to update your graphics card drivers (as per usual), or maybe setting "Change blending mode if invalid for card" in Jabo's D3D may help (I had similar problems in Mario Kart on my old Voodoo3)

As for the original strangeness, I'd say it's a below minimum requirements video card, or one with bad drivers.

I don't think it's my drivers causing the pink shadows. I think it is the plugin. Corn does not have those pink shadows.

Well it's probably an issue with the PJ64 graphics plugin that don't like your drivers. We can play mario with any PJ64 version. Try other drivers or another graphics plugin.

Or, if you really can't get it to work with PJ64, you can try playing Mario64 with some other emu, as almost all N64 emus can run it nearly to perfection(1964, Apollo, SupraHLE, Daedalus, TR64, and even Corn).

I didn't say Mario64 didn't work. I said that shadows are pink with Glide64. Yes I know other plugins do not have that problem. I have tried them.

The obvious way to check would be to try Mario64 in 1964 with Glide64 (hmm, how many 64s? ). If the problem persists, it's obviously down to the graphics plugin, and considering how young Glide64 is this is very much the likely cause. I personally didn't notice you mentioning Glide64, I'm surprised anyone's using it at such an early stage of development without expecting problems

That's not to say it's not good work, but since Voodoo's have no problems with rendering Mario on the GeForce based plugins I'm surprised you use it.

Speed my friend...... speed. Look at the CPU I'm using. Very slooooooooooow. Actually I'm not going to bother using N64 emulation until I get another Celeron 950 or 1000A.

Yes I did. When one of the voltage regulators on my Abit BE6 blew I heard a loud pop from my cpu. I could smell burning. My CPU had been fried. Alas.......... Esturk is now using his old Celly 300@450 once again.
