Dragon Warrior VII menu issues
Pretty much all of the menus (text, equip, spells, etc.) are appearing really dark. When its just the text menu up it doesn't really matter, but when you bring up the interface menus for spells and equipping and even in battle the menus can get illegible. They overlap each other and the dark texture make them really hard to see. Anyone got any ideas?

ive been using Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.76, and ive tried to fix the problem by using Pete's D3D Driver 1.76 and Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.76. The former didnt change anything and the later made the game run really fast and didnt fix the problem. For settings,
Plugin: Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.1.76 Author: Pete Bernert GFX card: Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller Resolution/Color: - 800x600 Fullscreen - [16 Bit] Textures: - R5G5B5A1 - Filtering: 0 - Hi-Res textures: 0 - VRam size: 0 MBytes Framerate: - FPS limit: on - Frame skipping: off - FPS limit: Auto Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 2 - Framebuffer texture: 0 - Framebuffer access: 0 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: off - Advanced blending: hardware Misc: - Scanlines: off [0] - Unfiltered FB: on - Dithering: on - Screen smoothing: off - Full vram: off - Game fixes: off [00000000] I think this is what you mean lol. |

Look like you're using a laptop with integrated graphics, I'd suggest pSX is better suited to your hardware.

i dont think its because of the onboard graphics. im pretty sure its a compatibility setting that is causing that. try setting up the compatibility section in the video config similar to the way i have mine set up:
Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 3 - Framebuffer texture: 2 - Framebuffer access: 4 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: on - Advanced blending: hardware

hmm. try another emulator like psx. i dont have this game myself to fiddle around with so there could be some issue between it and epsxe that makes it unplayable no matter what you use that i would not know about. with the compatibility settings i posted, if i was to alter them in any way, in some games my text menus get issues similar to what you are describing, so thats why i thought it was being caused by a bad compatibility setup. sorry it didnt help. one more thing you can do before you jump ship to another emulator, try disabling "unfiltered FB" and "dithering" in the "misc" section of your video config. also under "textures", set "texture quality" to "R8 B8 G8 A8" and under "resolution & colors" try changing the color depth from 16 to 32 bit.
but you should have better luck with something like psx, it doesnt use plugins, and it sticks as close to the look of a real ps as possible rather than upping the graphic quality using your pc's hardware. so you will most likely be seeing the games look, graphic-wise, being almost identical to the way it would on a real ps. this thread might give you some more ideas on what you can try.
