Problem with freezing in FFVIII

Hello everyone.Im new to the whole playstation emulator thing and i looked around the forums and did not see any threads on this.I configured my emulator with the frames thing and followed every step to get it to work.It worked fine and even the cutscene was working ok except for a few 1 sec skips. The problem now that when i battle and eventually when I or the monster do any actions besides attack the game seems to freeze but with the music and characters still in motion. It only seems to do this in battle seeing as how i was fine playing the card game.Could someone help with this?Thx in advance and im glad to be a part of these forums now.

ok first i need to know what plugins you are using and what settings you are using with them. it would also be of use to tell me if you are playing from the cd or an iso made from the cd. and what version of epsxe are you using? i recommend you try both 1.5.2 and 1.6.0, some people experience issues depending on the version they play their games on.

ok we dont support piracy. you are going to need to buy the game if you want help because if i had to point to a source to your problem right now i would point to the downloaded copy you are using. those never work for most people who use them. the people who make those and put them up on the net for download are a bunch of idiots who couldnt make a perfect image of a game if there was a how-to manual right in front of them.

edit- if you really want want to play the game, buy it from a place like ebay or amazon. and if you get issues with it wihile playing it on epsxe or something, THEN ask for help here.

What I meant to say was, don't expect any help with a game you downloaded because piracy is frowned upon.

If you make an ISO or BIN/CUE whatever from your own disk it's fine, if you got the iso from the internet its piracy.

yes, ROMS/ISOS/cheeseburgers, anything of the sort you download from the internet is piracy because you are not downloading your copy. legally, you are entitled to make one backup of your copy. and this is why what you are doing is illegal: you are downloading someone elses copy, not yours. and just in case you are wondering, a common misconseption often made by people who are not aware of the whole legal/illegal aspects of emulation is that, if you own the game, its ok to download it. again, you would be downloading someone elses copy, so that too is illegal.

edit- bottem line is: its never legal to download a game, even if you own it yourself. if you want help here, i really suggest you buy the game yourself. most likely, if you do that it will run fine. if you still have trouble, which does happen from time to time, we will be more than willing to help you.

....whether we do it or not is not the case, the case is that we won't admit to doing it and neither should anyone else, helping someone get a pirate copy of a game working is accessory to piracy... and i don't feel like going there.

This forums existence is based on keeping itself clean and not directly aiding in the proliferation of illegally copyrighted materials.

The videogame industry lawyers would just love to pounce on this forum and get it shut down so their has to a a zero tolerance policy against posts of such nature.

no, we dont all do it. it may come as a bit of a shock to you but some of us here actually have respect for the people who make these fine games and understand that stealing their stuff is not what a true fan of their work would do. if anyone is a hypocrite here, its you.

and im going to assue at this point you are not very well versed in the english language, because i find it hard to believe you could miss this forums standpoint on piracy and how we deal with it. so im going to link you to the rules in multiple languages section, hopefully you will be able to interpret at least one of the rules pages there. and i recommend you take a look at them, you obviously are not aware that we DO NOT SUPPORT PIRACY. PERIOD. if there is anything that really pisses me off its trying to make the people who are aware, do follow the rules, and who have a little bit of respect for people who work their asses off to make these games and use their talent to make an honest living look like the people who are in the wrong.

i am more than willing to help anyone who has bought games legally get their issues worked out. however i refuse, both on a moral standpoint and considering this forums zero-tolerance policy, to help people who pirate games. its as simple as that. you can call me or anyone else here who shares this standpoint, regardless of why they have it, what you want, but im going to tell you now that you are only going to make yourself look like an idiot. and just so you know, everything that i would have recommended for his issue, provided he was actually doing this legally, would have been easily found in the FAQ section that most you all are too damn stupid to read.

no. and we better not catch you trying to help him, because that is just as bad as asking for help with this sort of thing. and no, i highly doubt it is related to any settings he is using. ive said it once and ill say it again, downloaded material has a really really bad reputation for being crap.

Jonc is also correct, i've never had to download a PSX game, i either order it, get it off ebay, or borrow it from a friend up north who has a large collection of PSX games.
