Final Fantasy IX Sound Problem

When ever i'm in a cut scene, the sound will sometimes keep playing this irratating as hell sound, like the sound is frozen but still playing on a loop, and when i enter the combat the music will start to glitch and stuff. Would anybody know how i could fix this?

what plugins are you using and what settings are you using for them? are you playing from the cd or and iso? its usually recommended that you try both and see if the problem occurs in both methods. and what version of epsxe are you playing the game on? for the most people, ffix only works on 1.5.2.

sorry, i ment what sound plugin are you using? i use eternal spu 1.41 (non-lite) with the following settings:

i have the top 3 boxes ticked

in the actual config mine is set up like this:

audio device- directsound
buffer size- 80 (doesnt have to be this, so set it to your preferance)
audio-out method- thread

all 3 special game fixes enabled

"wait for XA buffer is free" enabled under the "misc" section

neill's reverb

just to give a an early warning, i highly suggest you keep playing it on 1.5.2. its known to have serious issues on 1.6.0 for alot of people and its just going to be downright frustrating if you run into something.

I'm currently playing ff9 too, i have this same problem, i've tried the epxse SPU core and P.E.O.P.S, sound plugins, but both seems to have this problem in different ways at different "events", epsxe spu core works a little bit better as it ends the sound looping faster than peops in which sometimes it loops forever, im gonna try eternal plugin and see if it has better results.

definitely go with eternal spu 1.41. download it here. and if you two are playing off isos, try running the game from the cd and see if the problem happens using that method as well.

same ****e different day

after dealing with video problems in IX (the glitchy airship takeoff scene). directly after that FMV, i have no sound. Null2SPU would crash ePSXe.
have eternalSPU 1.41 but although the program isn't crashing anymore, i still have no sound. i have the ff9 fix on. any particular settings otherwise that fix this issue?

what version of epsxe are you using? if you are using 1.6.0, that would be your problem. post your current eternal spu settings anyway though.

tried everything on both 1.52 and 1.60. updated to Eternal 1.5beta2. could a save state have anything to do with this? i have sound when i run the game, but none when i load state. SPU config settings are the same as above.

that's the problem. had to do a little in game back tracking, but let it be known to all who have the AMV problem: when you save state before in 1.6.0 expect problems when transferring to 1.5.2.

yes, a save state can cause this as the CDDA audio state is not reloaded with it. especially during cut scenes.
