Final Fantasy 9 Problem
Right, i've searched the forums and read the faqs and i've not found anything that will sort out my problem so thought i'd make a thread and see if you guys have any ideas.
With the .ppf files the game won't load at all so I dunno if i'm doing something wrong? All i'm doing is unzipping them into the patches folder. I am using 1.5.2 by the way. I had some .65 files before and it got further than the ppf files but then it crashed because of the peops gpu. What's the difference between the files? I'm running peops for gpu and sound and i'm also running an iso of the original cd. I've tried a few other graphics plugins and none of them seem to run very well, tried another emulator as well and that didn't work either. Spec of laptop isn't that great but it runs ff8 fine so thought it would be alright for 9. Any ideas people? |

Well, both really. With the patches not working, the game won't run. I just get the blank screen. It could be the patches that aren't working or it could be the way I have it set up.
I've just found the .65 files again so i'll run the program and post the error report up here. i'll also get a copy of the plugin settings. -------------------------------------------------- Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: ePSXe.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 3cd588b6 Fault Module Name: gpuPeopsSoft.dll Fault Module Version: 1.17.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 42aadd88 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0003fd4a OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: 6d8b Additional Information 2: e06c0374ae68f7762ee40e791c6eeb7e Additional Information 3: d7aa Additional Information 4: 7e511c06c27f02718fe76d22d8e74fd1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Plugin: P.E.Op.S. Try to change gpu plugin to Pete's D3D
Try using another EMU like pSX What region you have the game in PAL or NTSC if the pal then you need to find a patch cause that version has some protection probs with ePSXe |

Petes plugins don't agree with my laptop at all. Tried running all of them and even on fast setting they're really jerky and slow. Tried other emus as well which doesn't seem to help :s
The game is pal so yeah I need the patches, but i've put them in the folder and still nothing. I actually had the game running the other day with the .65 files in the patches folder. Then it suddenly stopped working and I have no idea why. |

Did you actually patch the iso you made, there is some utility you need to use to attach the ppf to the iso permanently. I think you can find it at a site called Aldo's Tools
Console Gaming World - PSX - PPF Patch Engines here you go ppf-patch-o-matic

Aaah ok, I was under the impression you just stuck them in the patches folder and that was it. Cheers for the advice i'll give it a go.
Nope, patches have been applied and it just keeps crashing after the trainer screen

Because that doesn't work either. I'm sure it's something to do with the gpu. The game runs with petes plugins but as soon as I get into a battle the slowdown is unbearable. Also I know it can work with the peops plugin because I had it working the other night. It just randomly stopped working.

Use the original CD
Set the CDR plugin to the built in epsxe Win2k plugin. Enable Read Subchannel Data CD should now work. if it does not, it is not the CD but the graphics settings are set incorrectly for the capabilities of your Card/Chip.
