Final Fantasy 8 Problem

I can't go past this part in the game..

I can't use the door there.. So I'm stuck out on the balcony

Is there a fix for this?

I tried downloading a gameshark thing to try and find a no clip or fly cheat to get past this.. But the cheats didnt work.

Everything else has been working perfect until now.

If it matters, I'm using

Pete's open GL2 2.8 Driver
Eternal SPU Plugin Lite 1.41
Mooby 2 cd disk image driver 2.8

Try walking around and pressing X until you get through the door. That seems obvious, but a lot of people get stuck here. You have to find the right spot, you might want to turn frame limiting off while you do this so you can get through it faster.

Alright, well i tried what you said but nothing happened.. I tried just walking around at the bottem of that stairs while pushing X, but i could not get though.. Is there anything else i can try? Ive put quite a bit of time into this game already, and i don't want to have to stop now


I can't even climb the stairs.

I read some of the older posts, and people are having the same problem as me.. I have Rinoa in my party, so i get the extra cut scene.. I don't have a save that goes back far enough to send her to the missile base though.. Is there anyway i can get a savestate somewhere for this?

hmm, yeah seems a lot of people do get stuck in that particular area for no reason, personally i've never had this problem, the exit door is in the area i've marked on the picture, childish i know, but try running into that area pressing the action buton repeatedly. Or try running around a bit first, pausing the game etc etc, then running into that marked area.

If all else fails load a previous save state or saved game then retry.

Alright, i fixed the problem.

I ended up having to restart from the begining of CD 2.. A word of advice, SEND RIONA TO THE MISSILE BASE. If you don't you will get the same glitch i had.

So in other words, if you have Rinoa in your party, you can't get through the door?

And yeah, if Rinoa is with you, you cant get through.. I checked a couple of other threads and it was all the same thing. Can you post that under a sticky somewhere?

it must be a region issue, my pal version does not have this issue,.. i always have Rinoa in my party with squall (they both have the best Limits, Lionheart and Invincible Moon/Wishing Star, and usually Swap Zell out depending on the requirements.

and also, YOU DON'T PRESS X, the door is supposed to open by itself when you approach it, thats how it always worked for me :\. you've obviously used some code, or theres some bug in your specific version of the game which prevents the door from opening.

and A-J, that is a wall, the door is up the steps.

this seems a very region specific problem, i've never had it in my years of FF8 on epsxe.

Look, what version of the game are you using? Pal, NTSC? I allways take Riona with Sqaull back to the garden and I never have this problem, with both pal and ntsc.

Pal.. I dunno, it might have happened because I don't play with sound enabled.. I found a couple other bugs where i couldent progress any further without sound enabled.. In particular, when Squall and Rinoa are on the ragnarok for the first time .. Squall is in the pilot seat and the cover track *all eyes on my, i think* starts to play.. If sound isint enabled, squall just sits there blinking, and nothing happens.

So, if someone posts about a problem in FF8 where they can't get past a particular point because nothing happens, ask if they have sound enabled.

the song playing does change at that point so its probably stuck.

Like the others, it never happened to me. I always have Squall+Rinoa together and never had slightest problems, in both 1.5.2 and 1.6.0. (PAL)

I've had the same problem and for long time i couldn't get this door open.
I switched to other graph. plugin,something with software mode awful graphic and it worked.
