try the eternal sound plugin instead of internal or maybe peops which I assume you're using?

Try a different emulator. Did you read the sticky at the top of the forum you posted in?

But there is nothing about this kind of problem in that thread.

Well, when they talk the sound cuts of and talk ahead of the text and/or far back in the text and changes between that, so that the text and sound is unsyncronised might be a better explenation.

Well, it certainly doesn't say "Grandia 1, problems are mest up [sic]," BUT it does have a lot of generic troubleshooting advice.

Quote:
  • Try a different emulator (different version of ePSXe, or PSXeven, SSSPSX, PCSX, pSX, Xebra). Keep in mind that memory cards from all of these emulators can be shared with each other. Some emulators will accept the formats with no problem (PSXeven is excellent in this regard), but if you're having problems with memory card compatibility, use PSXMemTool to change the format. Keep in mind that save states are not transferrable between emulators.
  • Try using a software GPU plugin (like Peops or Kazzuya's, etc)
  • If you're using Pete's plugins, they have a "Nice" preset. 99% of the time this will be the correct GPU configuration.
  • If you're using save states, don't. Load off of your memory card save.
  • If you're playing off CD, make an ISO image or switch CDR plugins. If you're using an ISO, try the original CD (not a copy or a bootleg!)
  • Try restarting your computer and killing unnecessary processes
  • Update your drivers for your graphics card, sound card, etc.

FWIW Grandia seems to play without problems in pSX - but then, I never had problems with it in ePSXe, either (always used to use the Eternal sound plugins)...

Could you show me your sound settings, please?

I'll check it next time I boot into Windows, if I remember, FaHelve - but it's a year and a half at least since I used ePSXe regularly; I find pSX a much better emulator, and considerably better in Linux.

Oddly, the Eternal plugin often seems to be quoted as having a Linux version, but I've never been able to find it.

I can't take credit for this fix. And I don't remember where I ran across it. But it was on some random forum when I was playing through Grandia.

Using the Eternal SPU Plugin Version 1.41, here are the settings that work.
