Good old Metal Gear Solid

After much fiddling with plugins I finally got it working absolutely perfectly. So I sit down and happily whore the game for several hours (as you do). Before long, I finish disc one, and thats where all my problems returned tenfold.

Firstly, to clarify: Running both .iso's normally is fine, works perfect. Loading a save works perfect too on both discs.

However, after the disc change menu, theres no sound. Dying and choosing either continue or exit = locks up. Using the codec = nothing happens until you hit the skip text button, and again it locks up when you reach the end. (meaning I can't just save and load the save)

So I'm pretty much unable to play disc two unless I load someone elses save :/

Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm confident it isn't a plugin issue since the games run fine normally, plus changing plugins didn't help. Its just after the disc change.

Hello Ravenlore and welcome to Emuforums.
Are you using savestates by any chance ? If yes don't and try to upload your last regular memory card save.

Thanks RedLion, yes I have been using savestates. Loading a regular save file before disc change and not touching the save state feature didn't help I'm afraid.

Here's the link for the memory card save: YouSendIt: The Leader in File Delivery.

Ok.First you could have used the attach feature of the forums (nothing serious anyway) but the way the link is shown quite look as desguised advertising which is not allowed here. Have you tried to use another emulator like pSX? (you can easily switch memory card to this one by changing the *.mdr extension into *.bin extension.)

I've considered using another emulator but haven't got around to picking one up. And yeah, that link is dead weird, every time I edit out the text it reappears :f Freaky..

I'm not used to this forum layout, thanks for the tip

I can now verify that this is NOT a savestate problem. I deleted all my savestates, started a brand new game, memory card saves only, got to the disc change, same problem.

Doesn't matter wether I use an iso or the original game disc to switch, doesnt matter wether its switching to disc 2 from disc 1 (end of disc) or to disc 1 from disk 2 (try to boot a disc 1 save with disc 2 in) the same problem occurs. No sound, codec doesn't cycle til you press the skip button and then it hangs at the end, when you die and choose continue (or end) it crashes.

So very frustrated now

And about the other emu, I totally forgot to check xD Its been a busy week.
