Yet again - Final Fantasy IX

This is a problem I've had forever - the game works perfectly fine, the only problem is that, after about 30 seconds of chocobo riding, the world map gets cut in half, and once I try to dismount the chocobo, the game freezes. I've looked everywhere, and it seems I'm the only one who has this problem. What's the solution?

Thanks in advance!

I've got the exact same problem.

Intel Core Duo E6750
2 GB Ram
Geforce 8800 GTS
WinXP SP2

Using ePSXe 1.52
FF9 Pal UK (Iso)
Haven't used Savestates so far.

Any ideas?

Nope, didn't do the trick :/
Possibly corrupt save?
Attached my memcards, hope those are the right files >_>
If they are, first card, first slot is before getting the chocobo, second is standing outside chocobo forest with the chocobo.

Also attached a pic, although it probably won't help much^^'

Picture of settings attached.

Nope, didn't patch, cause from the nfo I thought it was purely a cheat patch >_>
I'll try it and report back shortly.

EDIT:
Looks like the patch did it, I should've followed the FAQ instead of thinking for myself
Thanks for the help :]

EDIT2:
Turns out, I didn't apply the patch correctly at first, now I did and as soon as the game should start ePSXe crashes O_o

Using Pete's OGL2 makes no difference...
But I don't think this got anything to with the video plugin, as the terrain isn't just transparent, it's impossible to move onto the area where it should be and as soon as I try to dismount the game freezes.

do you have anything like FSAA or AF being forced onto applications by your video cards control panel? does it do this same thing when being run from the disc?

Nope, no global AA/AF forcing.
I can't get it to run from the disc directly (black screen), even with the ppf, currently trying to create a subchannel file, but this'll take a while

use internal IOCTL CDR and tick enable subchannel reads

If I try to use the original disc or burn/mount the image I get disc read errors, although starting the image directly works.
Using subchannel reading or a subchannel file makes no difference, so I'm guessing my disc is broken :/
I know it worked ~4 years ago but I can't try it in a PSX as mine is sadly beyond repair.
That's what I get for not treating my games with more care.

Anyway, I did find a way to fix this, but this isn't the place to talk about not entirely legal methods

use toothpaste on the disks data side, it softens the plastic and allows you to buff out scratches
