FFIX problem. epsxe crashes after installing pec?

I installed epsxe, plugins and all and FF9 worked fine and could get to the start game screen. I didn't start a game though.
Anyway, after that, I installed the pec plugin, so that I could enter a gameshark code. But after entering and sending the code to the epsxe, after the 'click any button to get to the game', the epsxe just crashes. It doesn't even get to the first 'Squaresoft' screen. It says 'epsxe has encountered a problem and needs to close'. It was working fine before the pec thing....any help please?

The only reason I am using epsxe is to play as Beatrix in FFIX, since I don't have a gameshark for my psone.

I tried both the epsxe 1.6 version and the 1.5.2 version. Same thing.
PEC version is 2.5.
I tried the 19 line beatrix code and also the 2 line code separately. The codes are from gamefaqs.

Help anyone??

Some gameshark codes caused problems in FF9. I was reading that the Beatrix code caused the game to crash sometimes. I don't know if that's the problem though, and I've never used PEC so I can't really help you any more.

Yeah, hacks like that are (inherently) quite buggy, like the FF7 "play as Aeris on disc 2 and 3" cheat.

*EDIT*

I got it to work already. Yay! Thanks for all the help!
Btw, for removing/uninstalling everything, do I just delete the epsxe folder? The add/remove program doesn't seem to have it ...

Okay, I'm using 1.5.2 now, thanks!

Can I ask if I want to add in another cheat code (becuase I want to add a support ability), do I just add on the new code to the existing code I already placed in the user database, or do I have to create a new cheat (with a new name) and add this code to it?

You create a new cheat, AFAIK. And even if it didn't matter, it'd still be good for organization.
