Final Fantasy IX on PS1 needs a patch to work

Does Final Fantasy IX on PS1 needs a patch to work with epsxe?

When i start the emu the disk spins and i see the light come on but the screen stays blank.

Any ideas?

Im using Petes latest OpenGL with 1.6 but i have tried 1.5 to and still no different.

All other PS1 games i have got work fine on standard PS1 settings 640 x 480 etc...

Where would i get a patch from please?

If you have a PAL version of the game you will need a ppf patch.

It is covered in the Troubleshooting FAQ, the ppf patch is needed because PAL games can be copy protected, so it is not a FFIX issue exclusively.

Don't say I never did anything for you.

Once I get a new controller (Xbox360 maybe?) I'll be playing Chrono Cross and getting a good OGL2 config up. I played it part way already and my USB adapter died; I want to play it more to confirm that the config works past the first couple hours of the game.

FFIX needs a special game fix, if I remember well. Just check it on, and it should work.

Well, ... yeah.
I told the same, but that gamefix repairs a glitch in battles. It's name is G4 Polygon Cache. Dunno if it'll work, just try it, and be happy.

... or not.

I think the point I was (slyly) trying to make is that it's fairly simple, and just required a quick doublecheck. It's infinitely better to spend 20 seconds checking to be completely sure, than to spend no time at all just guessing.
