FFIX - shutdown problems
I recently started playing FFIX on espxe version 1.5.2 (to avoid the Dali glitch) and for some strange reason my PC suddenly switches off without warning every 30 minutes or so. I read the FAQ for the emulator on FFIX and it mentions that FFIX can cause the computer to crash at random times if the bus speeds are overclocked. Now I dont know for sure if this is the same problem I'm experiencing, but I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how what exactly the problem is and how the hell do I fix it. Please help!
Also I'm running it on a windows xp. |

Thanks for your advice, but the problem certainly isnt caused by a standby feature. I think it may have to do with the bus speeds as was mentioned in the faq, but I cant be certain. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Is it just a random restart?
Press windows key + pause/break (to get to the System Properties option), go to the Advanced tab, and under Startup and Recovery click the "settings" box and uncheck "automatically restart". With that, you can view the BSOD and see what driver is causing the problem. If you're still getting random restarts after that, it could be your CPU overheating and forcing a restart. |

That seems to be the more likely explanation, I've found that the game plays for over an hour if I switch it on in the morning, after it's had long break. But if I try playing it straight after it just switched off it only lasts for about 20 - 30 minutes. So, that said is there any thing I can do to fix it? I've tried lowering the quality of the graphics and that didnt really help Well I've tried disabling the restart feature at the system menu, but it's still restarting. Anyway I can prevent the CPU from overheating? Please Help Last edited by Kwehhhh?!; October 31st, 2006 at 22:54. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Try cleaning out the inside of your case. Give it more ventilation. ePSXe stresses out your hardware, and it will get your GPU and CPU hot. Maybe invest in some new fans or a new HSF or something.
