Another FF9 Issue, Boss Won't Appear
I'm in the Desert Palace and Valia Pira simply doesn't appear. I'm at the top of the dungeon and he should appear. However, because he doesn't, I cannot progress in the game.
Has anyone else seen this before? Is this a FF9 ISO issue or ePSXe issue or even just an FF9 issue in general? Oh, and is there a way to play around with the game when it's running, like when you could pop open the lid and stuff on a real PSX? Thanks for the help |

I'm sure I did everything right. And I'm sure my specs are fine, as I've played and finished FF7, FF8, Megaman X4-6, and Chrono Cross.
Before you guys reply any more, I'm gonna get my ISO again, this time making it from a friend's FF9 CD. Thanks for helping, though. If I still have problems later, I'll come back. |

I'm actually having the exact same problem. Hopefully someone here has a fix for it. No matter what I do, this exact same boss just refuses to appear. The boss fight is triggered by 'inspecting' a candle, which you walk up to. But the game simply won't let me look at the thing.
It's frustrating to be this far in, for nothing. |

No cheats.
I'm running on an ISO, but it's a personally made one (well, made by a friend, since I couldn't get it to work). The CD, which (as far as I can see) isn't damaged is giving me the same problem. Is there any way around this, at all? Even a different emulator that'd be compatible with the save file, to get past this part (via CD or ISO, or whichever; I prefer ISO for the speed, but can do either)? Or would anyone be willing to get past that fight for me, if I posted my memory card file? Anything? It's pretty frustrating.

No if I understand it correctly it's the boss that is in the wrong place :P
Either way you guys, a lot of people played through FF9 without any problems on epsxe 1.5.2 ( 1.6 has a bunch of problems so if you're using that well....) :P |

I got it. I was bored enough last night that I just re-ripped my ISO. No idea what the original problem was, but the second that I opened my save file in the new game?
The boss was right there, waiting. Things are working fine, now. Thanks for the help, to those who tried/offered. To hushy, no, I don't think we're in the wrong place. Being that this is the area for technical issues with a game, and we're... discussing... a technical issue with a game. |

i meant that you were in the wrong place, in the game. there have been a lot of people who have come back embarrassed because they were at a different place than they thought they were.
