Is there any way to recover my save files here? (FFVIII)
okay...uh...this is semi-complicated. might be hard to explain...
basically, I've been using save files aswell as normal saves. last time I ran EPSXE, I found that my most recent saves for some reason didn't appear on my memory card, so I loaded a save on the memory card, and then loaded a recent save state. Later on, when I tried to save, all my save files from the previous playing were there. And when I soft resetted, I could load them no problem. Today, I'm having the same problem. When I run the game, my saves aren't there, when I load the state and soft reset, everything seems to be working fine. If I try and save in a new memory card, it just doesn't appear when I try to load it. I know that save states are kind of unsafe and unstable, and I know it's liable to screw up sooner or later and lose me all my saves (as it has done before) so is there anything I can actually do here, or do I have to go load the newest save file I can? (which will set me back a good 3 or 4 hours) |

Try to make a new memory card, mount it, load a savestate, save to a new memory card,
exit ePSXe (with esc so that the memory card is saved), after that try loading that save. Edit: hm... as i re-read your post I see that you have tried that already... then it seems like you will need to start off with an old save.

Savestates affect the memory card. As in if you save on your memory card, after the save completes, you have to make a new savestate as well 'cause an old savestate will revert the memory card to it's previos state too.

okay, thanks for that. I'll make sure not to make the mistake again.
upon closer inspection, I actually saved AFTER I spent hours trying to get a Rosetta Stone...so it's all good. It'll take like half an hour to get back to where I was. |
