Dead disk?

I've been looking through my loft recently, and found my old Hogs of War psx cd. Since I'm having a few friends around later, I thought it would be a good game to have going.

So, I decided to play through some of the missions, and it was slightly stuttey sometimes, but nothing that tweaking some plugin options shouldn't fix. However, when I try to start the 3rd mission, I get the same error:

SPEC opcode 2f UNK (PC 00060cf4) (00060cf4) (62988,128)

After looking through the forums, it seems this could be caused by a duff CD. Plus, when trying to copy it using alcohol 120%, there are 3 sectors that it can't copy. This means that when it is set to playstation settings it can't complete the copy, and if I skip the errors, I just get a blank screen when the mission loads.

Anyone know an easy way to revive dead CDs? It looks slightly scratched, but not that bad :/

make an ISO, or buy a new one.

jkkdark, he just said that his problem was with making the ISO. so telling him to make an ISO is kind of pointless...

anyway, what you can do is examine the CD. any top side (label) scratches? if so, you are positively out of luck. you'll have to get a new one. if there are scratches on the bottom, you have hope. if they are light, you can polish them out with home CD repair tools. if they are deep, you might have to get it fixed professionally.

I'm using an .ISO of Hogs of War and I get the exact same error in every emulator I use While it tries to load the third career mission 'Trench Warfare'

It's unlikely my disk is damaged in the same way.
Plus it runs just fine on the playstation itself.

I've downloaded the patch also placed that in the patch folder. still no luck.

what can do?

Holy thread ressurection, Batman!

The cause of my problems was that there was damage to the non-date side of the disk. It was letting light through, which I assume prevented the laser from reflectitng properly.

I know, old thread lol, but you know what they say, 'Search first'.

If the non data side is scratched then maybe dab the scratch with permanent marker.
I recommend PowerISO for copying disks for use on an emulator (purely to save wear and tear ) and save it as a .bin file.
Though I genuinely think our emulation problem is the same.
I would play the P.C. version of Hogs of war but no computer on earth will run it.
