Trouble with Ape Escape

Hey,

I'm trying to play Ape Escape with a gamepad, it's a Rumblepad 2 from Logitech, but epsxe doesn't seem to be picking up any input. I've configured the buttons, so epsxe seemed to respond to it then, but once I start up my Ape Escape CD nothing I press lets me get past the first menu.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

the buttons all configured correctly right? try pressing F5 in game
