Red face Chrono Cross Key Items bug?

Sorry to make yet another Chrono Cross topic... I searched and didn't find this problem posted yet. I'm using ePSXe 1.6.0 with -noauto and odd/even bithack which does fix the Status screen bug. However, when I try to use Key Items on people the game gets pixelated and the music slows down and the item window doesn't come up. If I press left/right I can hear it scroll through items and I can select to use one... I just can't see what I'm using. ^^; I was able to get the pink dog at the start of the game by randomly hitting X until I picked the right item to use on him, lol. When I click to exit the menu flashes open for a moment then closes and the game returns to normal. I can post all specs if they are needed, but I'm hoping I've overlooked a simple fix.

mebbe you should try ePSXe 1.5.2, i had no issues with it, or maybe try other plugins such as Pete's OpenGL2 plugin, it works better in the case of my 6600GT.

I'll load up 1.5.2 again and see if it helps. I believe when some of the other fixes were disabled some of the FMV type stuff wouldn't show on CC, so I had them enabled at the advice of another ePSXe user.

*edit*

Fixed! Apparently it's the special upload detection fix, Chrono Cross doesn't like that, it was causing the bug. I guess my friend was wrong, I'll turn off the other special game fixes, too except for the odd/even bit hack. Thanks for the help. Hopefully it'll be smooth sailing now...

lol it would seem so. He also uses ePSXe and said his configuration was good, so I copied it. I could have sworn that without the special game fixes it would skip the CC intro movie or some such bug... but now it doesn't so all is good. I must say good job on these forums though, they are extremely well organized and have good FAQs and links to lots of common problems and how to fix them.

also, contrary to popular belief (and what it freakin says in the plugin), you dont need odd/even bit hack. the only game i know you need it for is CC, that's pretty much it. turn it off for other games.

btw, glad you like the forums (especially the FAQs!). we put a lot of effort into it
