Sled Storm music
Hi guys, I'm having a problem and hopefully you guys can offer a solution. I've been replaying a few of my old psx games (Castlevania SotN, Parasite Eve, MGS, Soulreaver, Spyro and THPS2 so far) and they all worked relatively fine and if I ever ran into a problem I would usually find a way to fix it here. But with Sled Storm nothing I've tried seems to work.
First of, I've been trying to play the game from the original CD (like I've done for all my previous games) and it's just awful... Everything is fine until it gets to the main menu. The whole game slows down to a crawl and my cdr drive gets all jerky. I can hear the music stutter with each 'spasm' of my cdr. It's the same deal in-game. Funny thing is if I press ESC to get back to the ePSXe menu, I can hear the music playing flawlessly. But as soon as there is graphic and music combined, it all *****s up. I've also tried making an BIN/CUE image of the game. I can play the game fine, no jerkiness at all, but the music is... nonexistent. Playing Sled Storm without Rob Zombie's Dragula playing in the background is simply not as enjoyable as it should to say the least. Now, I've read here that it's probably a CDDA issue and that I should use Mooby's CDR plugin. I tried that but to no avail, still no music. And in the sound settings I've also made sure the CDDA enable box is checked. I'm running out of ideas... Here's some useful info: Emulator: ePSXe 1.6.0 GPU: Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.76 SPU: Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41 CDR: Pete's CDR ASPI/IOCTL Driver 1.11 (when playing from CDs) - Mooby2 cd disk image driver 2.8 (when playing from BIN/CUE) |

You are in the right step for emulation. Did you increase the CDDA Volume to MAX? You might have overlooked that...

OMG, I totally did not notice the volume option, it was at zero! Lets not rejoice just yet though 'cause I'm still having a big problem. OK so now when I run the image (either the BIN/CUE or the IMG/CCD that I made following Shendo's suggestion) I'm hearing the music but only when I press ESC to go to ePSXe menu, kinda like when I was running the game directly from the CD... As soon as I get back in the game, the music is gone. And that's not all. When using Mooby's CDR plugin, the game runs much slower than it should. Is there specific settings I should have? ('cause I don't understand half of the stuff that's in there lol) I have 'Read all CDDA tracks' and 'Enable subchannel data' checked and that's it. I've left the rest untouched. (well except the volume hehe...) |

Ensure that your SPU settings are set to:
SPUasync, Smooth with a buffer of 32.
