Dragon Warrior VII Not Starting (ISO problem?)
OK. So I've had an ISO made from Dragon Warrior VII. Twice, now, since I thought the first might not have worked. And I can't seem to get it to run on the system. I've tried multiple settings on graphics (including going all the way down to nothing as someone suggested a couple years ago), mounting the ISO on Daemon, running it straight, using Mooby2, the Pete's 1.4, and the internal CD player.
As far as I can tell, the game itself isn't scratched in any way. There's no sign of scratches, and things seem to be running fine. The disk runs great in my PS2 (I've got no PSX) and EPSXE doesn't seem to be rejecting it (though I haven't played far enough to see if there's any crashes). The ISO-making program didn't complain about the ISO; no glitches in creating it and everything came out fine. And yet, neither disk 1 nor 2 wants to run at all. It starts up, and I get a black screen and nothing else. Am I the only one having trouble with this? Do I need to try CloneCD (or some other program) instead of ISOProducer? Or is there some 'magic plugin' or setting that will fix this problem? I really don't want to have to tote around the disk everywhere I go. I'd rather not have it broken or stolen. It took me over a year to find a copy that I could afford. My system specs are P4 CPU, 1.80GHZ, 128M RAM, WinXP SP1. Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. Anything else I'm missing for this? I'd show the specs of EPSXE, but I've tried so many and had the same 'black screen' that it would spam the hell out of the system. Suffice it to say that I've tried both 'Fast' and 'Good'. I've tried both Pete's Open GL 1.72 and P.E.Ops 1.17. Yes, I made sure the 'Dragon Warrior VII' flag was set. I use EPSXE 1.6. Haven't tried it with 1.5.2, but no one had complained about it being variant-dependent, so I didn't think it would help. Haven't tried another emulator yet, either. |

28.8kbps internet connection?!
You might want to give the P.E.Op.S Software GPU a try.

Oh. You tried it.
The best option now is to update your graphic card drivers.

I'm experiencing the same issue, my GPU drives are up to date and i've trade several emulators and plugins with no success, it was a downloaded ISO and my PS2 isn't modded so i can't test it that way although i did burn it to disc and it still didn't work

right, that could be the problem right there. even if it's not, it's still illegal to download an ISO. please read the rules; NGEmu takes a no tolerance stance on piracy. you have been temp banned for one week. when you come back, do not make the same mistake again. if you have any question as to whether or not you are breaking any rules, PM any moderator or admin (just look for silver stars).

As a note (and I forgot to come back) I finally got this one working. Found a posting mentioning DaemonTools + NRG (as opposed to ISO) for this, and gave that a try on my SO's system (who picked up Nero for CD collection). I finally got DW7 going! So a little time, a little Nero, and everything's working fine. Looks as if ISOProducer doesn't like this game. Either that or it just didn't like me for some reason.
![]() So, thanks for the help (in an indirect way!) Now if I can get around this crash issue I'll be golden. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be a disk/ISO issue, but a graphics/RAM issue (it happens whether or not I play with the actual disk). Time to try different plugins. |

I don't see why this guy was banned. He didn't told where he downloaded the ISO, he just said it was a downloaded ISO. Besides... Well forget about it.
Well I'm playing a game that I just borrowed the CD from my neighbor. i didn't paid to play the game, I just "borrowed the cd form my friend". Maybe this is piracy too ?? Last edited by Dalai; February 22nd, 2007 at 23:10. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Borrowing is ok, but to own or possess some it needs to be legal, this site doesn't want to get shut down for supporting warez and downloading games and discussing it here could cause trouble for this site...
People shouldn't be discussing that they're pirating software here, or expect help when they pirate software...that's not what this site is about.

And quit arguing. You obviously don't know anything about the logistics of piracy, so even IF you had a valid argument in the first place (which you don't), you wouldn't be able to argue it. Let me put it this way. I don't care what reasons you have, what country or planet you come from, or who you are, what you own, or where you're from. THE RULES OF THIS FORUM (not the laws of your country) are that piracy isn't allowed. Period. There is no arguing that. |
