i'm having some... rather odd xenogears issues

mainly the compass and the line around text boxes are screwed up. i've tried different graphics settings and even different plugins, but i can't seem to rectify the situation. i've also tried running xenogears as an ISO, an ISO via alcohol %120, and the actual cd. other than this, it runs normally. check out the screen, and see if you can offer an insight

here's the pic. if it won't show up for you, hit "download" in the lower right corner

If you are using Pete's D3D/OGL plugins, make sure to play with the "off screen drawing" option.

F.Y.I., OGL2 is not quite as good as the original D3D/OGL plugins, so it may be your problem.

i beg to differ. OGL2 offers better framebuffer emulation, shaders, and better aspect ratio options, not to mention stuff like fullscreen filters, internal resolution changes, and the need for less special game fixes due to its higher compatibility....

xloudandnoisy: what are your computer's specs? IIRC i played Xenogears with just the regular "nice" preset using OGL2 and PSXeven.

that problem seems to have solved itself. lol. as soon as i left lahan, it was all fine.

however, now, whenever i try to enter the blackmoon forest, i get this screen:
clicky clicky

i've never seen this screen before. lol

i run a dell dimension 8400, 80g hd, ati radeon x300, p4, 64x dvd-rom computer, anything past that, i'd have to do some digging, cause i don't know the values off the top of my head.

yeah, as far as i know. i got it second hand, so anything's possible. maybe it's a problem with the cd, like a gouge or something? i've just never seen anything like that from a damaged disc, plus, there are a few scratches, but nothing that would look like it would affect readability. i could see defective, but i've played this disc on this computer with this emulator several times, and it's never given me any of the issues it is now

try a different emulator (or emulators) and see if it happens.

Ok, the reason you got the screen entering the woods... is because you are using PEC. Gameshark codes will cause the game to freeze right there and go to that screen. Trust me... I know. Otherwise I have had no other troubles using the codes throughout the rest of the game. As far as your other problems, try setting the Pete's OGL2 on Nice and see what you get... you may also wanna try selecting some bug fixes...

I had issues with those borders (no PEc, etc) in an entierly different plugin (I was using Lewpy's Glide at the time). All I did to resolve it was save at the next avaliable save point, quit and reload. I also solved a hang issue the same way.

There are certain points where the game will hang regardless, but this was niether of them
