Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions

Ok i have a couple questions. One has nothing to do with the emulation, but i'm too lazy to go make and check another thread. The other is a problem i have with running the game.
Ok. First question. Is VR Missions just a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, or is it just a completely seperate game?

Second question. When i load the game, it loads fine, and i can start all of the training missions, but after i finish it, i hit the option to try the next mission, and the screen goes black. I'm still relatively new to PSX emulation, and i'm not sure what this problem could be from.

Thanks for any answers,
MD

It is a expansion of the VR Training in the MGS (but you can count it as a new game).

What program did you use?
I suggest Alcohol 120% (with playstation profile + .ccd option).
Also clean up you Cd and check if there are any scratches.

I used alcohol 120, but i used the normal cd option to create an iso. I thought that iso was the only format that ePSXe read, but I'll go try the ccd option.

And use the "Mooby2 cd disk image driver" cd plugin and start the game with the "Run Cd" (not "Run ISO").
I had the same problem with the Metal Slug X iso but after using that cd plugin everything worked fine.

I tried the ccd, but it didn't work. I'm cleaning the disc of now, and i'll try again.

EDIT: I cleaned it, and it's still not working.

try making an ISO with ISObuster. there's a tutorial here.

what are your computer's specs? most likely, you should use these settings:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.76
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce 6800/AGP/SSE/3DNOW!

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Window mode
[32 Bit]- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- R8G8B8A8
- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- VRam size: 128 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 2
- Framebuffer texture: 2
- Framebuffer access: 0
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: on

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- 15 bit FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Screen smoothing: off
- Screen cushion: off
- Game fixes: on [00000080]

the PC FPS special game fix is VERY important.

if it's still not working, try different emulators. start with ePSXe 1.5.2 if you're using 1.6.0, or vice versa. then PSXeven, SSSPSX, PCSX....

My computer is pretty crappy. It doesn't have a video card right now (i'm too poor), and it has a very small amount of RAM. Oh well. It runs FF7 fine on the lowest settings.
AMD Athlon 2600+
256 MB ram

I think the disc's just scratched. I'll try this, but i'll most likely just return it anyways (i just got it like 2 days ago).

you can get a card for 60 bucks thatll run just about anythign epsxe can throw at it

In fact try 44 bucks this isnt great but itll be fine for epsxe if u want a cheapo junkie cheapo... anyways itll run (even some pc games with the settings at low) but itll defintly decimate onboard video

eVGA GeForce FX 5500 / 256MB DDR / AGP 8X / VGA / DVI / TV Out / Video Card
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...0681&CatId=933

your bettr off with a card with 128mb of gddr3 ram itll actually out perform the 256 of ddr on that card.

For onboard cards the best thing you can have is P.E.Op.S soft plugin (it will do the job).
