FF7 Loading

For some reason, when I am in game and entering the next screen or going to the menu, the game freezes for a few seconds until it loads. There is also a similar delay when any battle may begin. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Are you running the game from Cd?
Make the Iso using the Alcohol 120%, and the run the Iso with the
"Mooby2 cd disk image driver" cd plugin.

I'm already using an iso that I made to run the game. I didn't have that CD plugin though. How do I know if it is being used or not? I went to config, cdrom, and selected Mooby2. I'm assuming that its automatically used when I go file, and run iso.

Select "Run Cd" (Not Run ISO) and select your game.

I get an error that says to rename the file to a .bin extenstion. After closing the error message, the game runs immediatly. Is this normal or should I change it to .bin? Thanks.

Well you can change it to .bin and if it works than that is ok.
Also you can rebuild the ISO with the Alcohol 120% and you will not get the
error messages because the image is in .img format (you will need to build
the image with the .ccd option).

Btw: Does your game lags now?

I haven't played it much since I got the cd plugin(like 20 minutes), but thus far its much better. It still delays a bit though when changing screens and entering battles.

If you are wondering my system specs are as follows. AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 1 gig RAM, and a EVGA Nvidia 6800GS 256 video card. I've been tinkering with the video settings a lot, most of them are cranked. I'll make a different image with Alcohol later on tonight and will let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Well I've made the new image with the .ccd option, and the game is running pretty well. There is still a little delay changing screens and entering battles, but its really not bad at all. All in all its running much better, thanks.

I've decided that after playing the game for quite a while, that the delays are bad enough to do something about. Any idea which setting within Epsxe would help? I have all of them cranked to the max at the moment and can't seem to figure out which one(s) will do the trick.

Well I downloaded SSSPSX, copied over the memory card files(which I never thought of, thanks for the tip), and the game seems to be running flawlessly. I was actually quite impressed with it. What sound plugin are you using, and what do you have the settings at? Thanks!

Edit - There is no way to use save states in SSPSX correct?
