FF9 - It's dead...along with ff8

ok, heres my problem, epsxe is having one hell of a mental head ***** every time you load a game. Basically, whenever it starts, there is no sound and all there is is a black screen, however once, i managed to get something when i uses either the ppt or the sub-channel file-thing and it came up with a cheat screen for FF9, and then when you press (X), it's supposed to load up the game. It doesn't. It goes black again.

The only time i ever got to the cheat screen was once with certain settings (that i can't remember) and once with Daemon tools.

I've tried epsxe 1.5.2 AND 1.6.0

I am no newbie, so when i got errors i toyed with settings myself and nothing worked.

I looked here for anything similar, nope. I even tryied going to that guy's site where he has epsxe preferences for certain games (including FF9 and FF8)

Now, i've signed up here and want to know how the hell am i going to sort this???

My specs are:

Processor: AMD Athlon 1500+ (1350MHz)
Sound: 5.1 Surround Sound
Graphics: ATI Radeon 9250 128Mb AGP
HDD: 120Gb SATA HDD
Drives: DVD+/-RW Drive
OS: Windows XP Home SP1
Internet: ADSL 2Mb

Post Test Ff9

I have played FF9 on EPSXE 1.6.0 and i have no trouble with it.
You may need in install some other plugins for graphics (video).
I had trouble with FF9 at first with no BATTLE OPTIONS untill i installed different
plugins and messed around with the settings within and game fixes.

there is no reason to ever use ePSXe 1.6.0 on FF9. ever. so don't do it. use ePSXe 1.5.2, PSXeven, SSSPSX, PCSX, pSX, just NOT 1.6.0.

anyway, just make an ISO with subchannel data if you're in the PAL region, or play off a CD and make sure subchannel read is enabled (or just get a PPF patch for those).

also, please dont bump your thread. this is the first time i would've seen your thread regardless of whether you bumped it or not, not to mention its a waste of space and it's annoying.

sorry.....

oh and i've tried using 1.5.2 and PCSX and niether work......it does the same thing.....a black screen. However it's very wierd, it loads up a FF9 cheat screen for some reason perfectly fine and then fails on the actual game.

that crap was wierd. Never saw much point to it.

If you want to go to the cheat screen go to This Gamefaqs page and download a game save where some guy haxed his way into the cheat room. I used it once.
