you, sir, are a douchebag. read almost any thread in this ePSXe section, and the advice is to make an ISO. well, what with? ISObuster is a good program.

you've never used Isobuster at all, have you? either that, or you're talking out of your ass. or both.

well i'm sick of uninformed comments, and since there is a CloneCD and an Alcohol 120% tutorial, its about damn time there was an Isobuster tutorial. so here goes, with a random game off my shelf, Killer Loop.

first step, after you've gotten ISObuster and opened it, pop your disc in. you should see something like this:

now, right click on CD.

choose somewhere to extract the bin file to.

from here, the image extracts.

after this, it asks you where to put the cue file.

then you're done! here's your ISO, now go emulate.

um...hushypushy...sir, it sort of isnt working. It keep saying:

Sector <insert number here> couldn't be read.

and continuously prompts me to do something (which is really annoying).

Is there a solution to this?

(By the way, thanx for sticking up for me.)

Actually, the disc is very scratched (which is why I tried to make an ISO. Stupid, huh?) and, I know this is very off topic and has not much to do with this, but when I try to read a Gamecube disc on my computer, nothing comes up. Is this common? Or is it something that doesn't happen normally when you boot up your PSX disc?

Oh, and to answer both questions, hushypushy, I have tried ripping OPM demo discs and Crash Bandicoot 2, I am using the free IsoBuster, and I have tried one disc with both of the CD Drives I have (the disc failed to intalize though, so it didn't detect it even though I hit the refresh button) so I know it isn't the CD-ROM drive, other discs came up the same way (as in not working), and I have not tried any other ISO programs (simply because I don't know about them; I got the IsoBuster idea from you ).

GC discs cant be read in a PC drive.

so basically you're saying, the messed up disc doesnt work, and the clean discs DO work? well hey there's your problem. try polishing the messed up one.

Well...yeah....but what can I use to polish discs? I've tried several methods, but what seems to be the one that works for you guys?

And is there a specific reason that GC discs can't be read?

Different format. Just because it physically fits inside the drive doesn't mean your comp's OS understands how the data on it is arranged.

I wipe my discs with tissue paper and that cleaner thingy, but my brother takes care of scratched ones. I've read of some dubious cleaning tips, google each solution a couple times to make sure you aren't trying somebody's harebrained cleaning scheme.

Well, thanks for telling me that GC discs don't work, but do you know exactly how your brother fixes up scratched discs? I've been wanting to know a way for the longest. And I haven't thought about googling anything yet, as everything I hear seems ludicrous and stupid. For example, I once heard that you should put a disc into a microwave for 30 seconds. Needless to say, that will ultimately fry the disc. Another one I heard was to boil the disc for two minutes. I tried that once with a PS2 game (I think it was PS2) and the back slowly started to peel. So is there any other way to be able to get an ISO of your game?

Meh, he just lathers something over it, like most other tips which involve wiping some kind of material into the scratches and praying they work. Just curious, why did you think boiling would work?

Personally I'd just replace those discs, it's not worth screwing up your drive if you gunk something weird on your discs and put them inside.

well, you can use generic toothpaste as a polish (generic because its just an abrasive, doesnt have all that weird crap in it).

there is the DiscDoctor; it's worked in the applications ive seen it. be careful that you dont overpolish it though.

Vanit's Easy Disc Clean Tutorial - No Special Equipment or Software Required

To clean discs I just get a towel, wet a small patch with water and then poke your finger into it and hold it in your hand so you can poke with it (sounds weird, but you'll figure it out), and then 'rub' in singular strokes from the inner circle to the outer circle all around the disc (see figure 1). Then to dry the disk do the same but with a dry part of the towel. Works like a charm.
