Question Game Problem

Hi,

I've got a problem with running PSX CD's on my install of epsxe, I am fairly new to this so please excuse me if there is a simple soloution. the emulator will run images of games that my gave me just fine, yet when it comes to playing cd's i have, any FMV sequences seem to stutter (same when i make an image file of said game), I curently have 5 games on CD (bushido blade, blade, alone in the dark, soul reaver, and ridge racer type 4). These disks are a little worn but not beyond reading (my mates PS" runs them fine and that has one of the most sensitive lasers i know when it comes to scratches on CD's!)

Any help would be much appreciated.

When you make the images, do any errors show up in the program you're using? What are your computer's specs and plugin settings? If you're using ePSXe's built in ISO function, you could always try using Mooby's plugin instead. It has an option to cache a certain amount of the image into memory.

I used CloneCD to copy the games, no errors occur

Well, have you tried the built in Run ISO function? If so, try changing your CD Plugin to Mooby for image or PEOpS if you want to run off the disc or mount the disk before running it.

Switch your sound plugin either to P.E.Op.S. DSound or Eternal. The one you are using is outdated. Also, try switching your graphics plugin to Pete's OpenGL. Here's some settings to start out with:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.76
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
GFX card: RADEON 9500 Pro x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Window mode
[32 Bit]- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- R8G8B8A8
- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- VRam size: 0 MBytes (If you know the amount of video memory your card has, change this)

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 2
- Framebuffer texture: 0
- Framebuffer access: 4
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: on

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- 15 bit FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Screen smoothing: off
- Screen cushion: off
- Game fixes: off [00000000] (Turn on whatever fixes you may need)

If you decide to use the actual CDs, use either P.E.Op.S. CDR, Xeven's, or SaPu's plugins. All three are much better than the internal ePSXe plugin.
