.hack//infection - is it playable?

Few threads discuss about the .hack games, and I was wondering if it was possible to play them on ePSXe (or any PS2 emulator, for that matter), either from DVD or ISO. I couldn't find any satisfying information on any of the threads.

Thanks for any insight regarding that matter.

ePSXe only emulates a PS1. In fact, all "PSX" emulation is emulation of original Playstation.

.hack games are all PS2 games.

Therefore you need a PS2 emulator.

Hmm yes, that makes sense. However, I would like to know if it is playable via any emulator at all, since most threads seem to point that no emulator can play it so far.

AFAIK, there's only one PS2 emulator that comes even close to making anything playable: PCSX2. And you would need a computer from the future to get its framerate up to anything approaching smooth. Until we have computers in the 9-12 GHz range (by today's Intel standards) with memory and graphics cards to match, you're not going to see native performance for a PS2 emulator.

Right now PCSX2 is very much an experimental toy and under active development, which is why its forum has the rules it does.

So there's little point in asking whether a particular game works or not. The best that anyone can tell you is: try it, see for yourself.

Thanks you for your quick civilized reply. I tried PCSX2, and got the results to be expected.

Thanks for your time.
