Slowdowns in Ape Escape

Trying to play Ape Escape on epsxe 1.6, and as usually when trying to play any game on this emulator, gotta fix the problems before i can play it =/ - Normally the game runs fine but it has moments where it slows down a lot, like in the opening cut scene it really slowed down when looking at the time machine thingy. It also slows down a lot when the main guy spawns or dies.

Here's my video stuff:
Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.6
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
GFX card: RADEON X800 XL x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE2

Resolution/Color:
- 1280x1024 Fullscreen - NO desktop changing
- Internal X resolution: 1
- Internal Y resolution: 1
- Keep psx aspect ratio: on
- No render-to-texture: off

- Filtering: 6
- Hi-Res textures: 1
- TexWin pixel shader: off
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 62

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 3
- Framebuffer uploads: 1

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Mdec filter: off
- Screen filtering: off
- Shader effects: 0/1
- Flicker-fix border size: 0
- GF4/XP crash fix: off
- Game fixes: on [00001000]

Any recommendations?

By the by, anyone know if there's a way to change the camera angles in this game? They can't really be that bad can they? I hope they're not always like that, i just want to be able to see where i'm going

Does ePSXe 1.5.2 or PSXeven do the same thing? Have you tried dropping FB effects to 2? You should probably turn off the PSX aspect ratio option and turn on the TexWin pixel shader option.

How do i enable the TexWin pixel shader option?

Also i think my Vram is 256, the options only list it up to 128, should i select 128?

Thanks for the replies.

check "Use Pixel Shader for 'PSX texture window' emulation".

you can click in the box to change your vram, you know that's what i did with my old GeForce 5600---it was 256mb.

Thanks, those things did help, still a little bit slow, but not nearly as bad. Don't think i can actually stand to play the game though as the camera angles are awful =/

That constant camera angle switching in the game is terrible is there a way to turn that crap off.
