ff8 debug problem..pec?

hey guys got a problem almost got me in tears...

my ff8 disc 1 is fuked been scratched for years, my only hope was that my cd reader on my comp could read it better than my ps, which is sorta did, almost.
it crashes just like on ps, on the boat scene invasion of dollet.
ive tried making isos with iso magic and tried making images with alcohol 120%. didnt work, i assume cos the disc is scratched.

alternatively i was advised to use a cheat to get to the debug menu and would be able to select my location, therefore skipping movie..
I got pec.
and i got it to work, im in nz, so i use PAL version of ff8, i got all the cheats on it to work except the debug one, so pec must be working...

it says to push select+L1+L2+R1+R2 and appaerntly the screen should fade into this debug room...
after hours of trying, and frustration, desperation i am here, begging you fine gentlemenly nerds of like kin to mine own as to whether or not anyone gives a fuk enough to have some charity in hearts to try and help a young man who is desperately in love with with a fantastic game...

and dont ask me to buy it again, you wouldnt beleive how poor i am if i told you....

thanks, friends...
and if you dont want to help me....get fuked.
love always.
Frank

you could try buffing out the scratch. non-flavored toothpaste and a clean white cloth can do the trick. i dont recommend using the debug room, especially if you have never played the game before.
