problem in spyro 3

i have spyro 3 and the emulation runs perfectly, except that the background music for the levels keeps on restarting. if i do not check the "enable XA sound" on the sound plugin config screen, the music doesn't play neither do the voices of the characters but the sound effects and other sounds do.
my sound plugin is the Eternal SPU Plugin Lite 1.42 and the video plugin is Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.75, both with default settings. please help because it is REALLY annoying.
