Best settings when playing games with TV-Out?
I'm using Pete's latest (2.6) OpenGL plugin and the 1.5.2. version of the emulator (for games like FF7 and CC).
What are the best settings when using the TV-Out capabilities of my video card? Is there any way to make the output image look better or at least just like the PS1 image on a TV? Last edited by emusnicker; August 1st, 2004 at 02:49. |

On the PC, it's always best to choose the highest settings. I'm just not sure how that applies to TV-Out. It appears like certain things, like the MDEC video filter, could actally make things blurrier on a TV. The problem is it's so very difficult to tell without the ability to take proper screenshots. Do certain settings give the colors a greater depth on a TV or something?

For TV-Out usage, I suggest you stick to 640x480, since this resolution is an exact multiple of the native resolution of the PSX, and highter resolutions are often too blurry in a TV. You can also use some texture filtering, I usually stick to "Standard + Smoothed Sprites".
Oh, and if you're playing 3D games, use Pete's OGL1 instead of OGL2 and set AA to max in your card's control panel, it'll look great. []s Badaro
