Star Ocean 2 Problems
Hello. I used to run star ocean on my playstation until the playstation didn't work anymore. Now i'm trying to run it on epsxe and I am getting many errors. First, I get the message that it's "UNABLE TO READ CD DATA" when walking around on the world map. After that clears up, if I get into a battle or go into a town, the game freezes with a black screen.
The second problem is after I exit a battle. Sometimes the characters voices will not sound (same problem, load error?) and when I exit battle I will exit to a black screen again. Here are my settings: Bios: Tried 1001 and 7502 Plugin: Pete's D3D Driver 1.1.75 Author: Pete Bernert GFX card: RADEON IGP 320M (Omega 2.5.58) Resolution/Color: - 1024x768 Fullscreen - [16 Bit] Textures: - R8G8A8A8 - Filtering: 0 - Hi-Res textures: 0 - VRam size: 0 MBytes Framerate: - FPS limit: on - Frame skipping: on - FPS limit: 60 Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 4 - Framebuffer texture: 3 - Framebuffer access: 4 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: on - Advanced blending: hardware Misc: - Scanlines: off [0] - Unfiltered FB: off - Dithering: on - Screen smoothing: off - Full vram: on - Game fixes: off [00000001] Sound is ETERNAL SPU PLUGIN 1.41 Enable Sound Enable CDDA Sound and in the options Direct Sound - 64 buffer Wait for XA buffer is free Thread SPU IRQ - Wait CPU action (Says it's for star ocean 2 next to it) I've tried running from the actual game disc, an ISO I made, a BIN I made, a BIN I downloaded and my friend's CD, same methods. All result in the same problem. My system: HP Pavilion notebook: 1.7ghz Radeon 320IM: 64MB: 3rd party omega drivers (originals will not run movies and new drivers are not supported by ATI or HP as it's a notebook) Not sure on my soundcard, but I'm pretty sure I this doesn't matter. 512MB RAM Windows XP and epsxe160 I've tried sugguestions in threads that relate to my problem, but to no avail. I will try anything you sugguest even if it's the same thing I've done before. Thanks in advance for your help! -B Squared |

same prob for me... sometimes, as i said in my thread, Japanese writing will appear when the enter-battle-freeze happens... a parallel i can see between our machines is the use of the Omega drivers. That may be a problem.
