Sound Issues (whelp! In videos and ingame)
I have a Celeron 1.5 Ghz processor and a Mobility Radeon 7500 in my Laptop. I finally got ePSXe 1.52 running fine on my Laptop (connected to a TV through TV-Out).
When I play Chrono Cross on my Desktop, I don't have any issues. On the Laptop, the sound in the videos is a bit messed up. I initially didn't quite understand what the problem was (the sound quality itself was pretty good) but everything sounded kind of funny. Aside from some minor popping here and there, it's the fact that the sound cuts off at times. There is *always* sound, it just feels like there is half a second missing inbetween all the time. If you still don't understand, take a sound file, and in it just take out a tiny bit of sound everywhere and squeeze the incomplete sound pattern together again. I tried mounting an .iso through Daemon Tools and by use of ePSXe's cd-rom tool. I also tried deactivating the special video compression. I tried different sound plugins. I just don't get this I also get issues in the game itself, where sound would play too slow or too fast for a second.

post your sound configs: wich sound plugin you use, how is it configured, etc.
Remember to check the top three checkboxes under config->sound, and leave the fourth disabled unless you are using the internal sound plugin (wich is not the best, believe me). Try using eternal or peops sound plugins. Also, tell us wich cd plugin do you use and how is it configured.

I have tried the Default settings for 4 sound plugins, including
ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2 Null2's Audio Driver 1.4 Pete's MIDAS Audio Driver 1.7 All of the above with default settings (the top three options, enable sound, CDDA sound, XA sound) and variations of these. P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.7 is configured as follows ![]() For CD plugins, I used the default one (ePSXe CDR WinNT / Win 2k 1.5.2. Core) EDIT: I've also made an ISO so I can boot from the harddisk with no luck. Last edited by emusnicker; July 27th, 2004 at 21:11. |

Ancient plugins, not the best for the time being. Download eternal and PEOPs (wich, btw, is the sucesor of pete's spu). Try spuasync with any of them, using smooth method on eternal. Also, download peops cd-r plugin to achieve the best results regarding cd access if you wanna play from cd, or either xeven's or sapu's for easy performance (they are autoconfiguring plugins). If you wanna play from isos, use either one with a daemon's virtual drive, or mooby's cd plugin to load the isos.
Come back and tell us if it gets better
