Grandia In Game battle problem speeds up very fast for 2 seconds

The game runs fine but when im in the battle every so often the game will go really high fps and the characters will move very fast for a second then stop it does it every so wile in the battles and is annoying.

Does any one know how to fix this? i tried open gl 2.5 it doesnt do it only a few times but i get a error screen and exit to desktop so im not gonna use that plugin I also tried the direct 3d plugins but the game crashes alot so i can just use Open GL 1.75 that works good
