*Snip - out with the old, in with the new*
EDIT AGAIN: Alright, here are my findings after a bit of experimenting: The settings I had posted earlier simply do not work. Weird since almost every other game works fine with those settings. Also, this game simply sounds like crap in ePSXe 1.6 no matter what I do. That leaves us with a few choices: try a different emulator/version, or bear with the sound and make it as pretty as possible. I opted to try another emulator. ePSXe 1.5.2 seems to work fairly well, as does PCSX. Those are the only two I've tried, but Emurayden/CVGS deserves a shot if you want to try it. There still needs to be some tweaking done even in ePSXe 1.5.2 and PCSX.... These are the two setups which I found to be the best(both work in ePSXe 1.5.2 and PCSX): Audio Device: Direct Sound Buffer size: 64 Audio out method: SPUAsync Async mode: Wait Voiceovers seem to be *almost* perfect with this setup in both ePSXe 1.5.2 and PCSX(at least in the scenes I tested). The downside to this setup is that the game will always be running at 60 FPS(NTSC) and you can't speed things up. I would actually recommend DISABLING FPS limitation in your graphics plugin if you're going to use this setting. ePSXe 1.6 works best with this setting as well, but it's still much worse than 1.5.2/PCSX, so definitely try one of those two w/this setting. Audio Device: Direct Sound Buffer size: 64 Audio out method: SPUAsync Async mode: Simple There are noticable distortions in the voiceovers with these settings, but it isn't so bad that it would detract from gameplay(at least not in the scenes I tested in). The upside is that you can disable FPS limiting if you want to speed things up. So, I leave it up to you to decide which one is better. It should be noted that I also tested PEOpS sound driver to no avail. It seems eternal is the only sound driver which works for this game, and even then it's sketchy at best. Also, as I said, ePSXe 1.6 seems to have problems no matter what I do. Also, if you're still having problems at the scene you're at I'd like to see it for myself. So if you could post your memory card file.... FINAL EDIT: Just tried out CVGS and the sound is fine there. Of course, getting the graphics and controls the way you want them is next to impossible in that emu, so it should really only be used as a last resort. It is nice to have something to fall back on though. Last edited by seph29; June 12th, 2004 at 01:13. |
