Metal Gear Solid boss issue

During the fight with Psycho Mantis, the colonel bestowed upon me the knowledge that to counter Mantis's telepathy, I must change controller slots from one to two; I use the keyboard when playing and do not possess a controller port. Any way to counter this, fellows?

go to the configuration of gamepad 1....and in the drop down box disable it.

then, go to gamepad 2 and configure that one normally. after the boss fight switch back
