My first problem is music (in cutscenes and gameplay) doN'T play at all for the default plugin, and 'stop and go' for the Null2 plugin. The gamefaq mentions typing in the command line
>epsxe.exe -noseekinxa into the DOS prompt window (start --> programs --> accessories --> command prompt), but it tells me that *ePSXe error: -noseekinxa param incorrect My second problem is that save states don't work by pressing F1. Even after attempting to save, it's still reported as an empty slot. According to http://www.epsxe.com/files/ePSXe_FAQ.txt .......... Also, Save States are only supported with the following plugins, and their future revisions: GPU --- Kazzuya's Software GPU 1.6 Alpha Knack's Software GPU 0.84 Beta Lewpy's Glide GPU 1.31 Pete's Direct3D GPU 1.47 >> Pete's OpenGL GPU 1.47 << Pete's Software GPU 1.47 SPU --- ePSXe SPU Core 1.2.0 Null2's SPU 1.35 Pete's MIDAS SPU 1.7 This list will be added to as authors update their plugins to support ePSXe's save state function. As indicated below, I have Pete's OpenGL2 vid plugin. I'm not sure if this cuts it for the list of save state compatible plugins, but i figured it was worth mentioning anyways. For those of you using this plugin as well, the zip archive containing this plugin is entitled "gpupeteogl205" (ePSXe vid plugin for Radeon) here are my system specs: Operating System: WinXP Pro + SP1 CPU: P4c 3.0GHz w/800MHz FSB + HT Video Card: 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Sound Card: SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Memory: 512MB DDR RAM at 400MHz here's what I'm using ePSXe 1.6 Plugins VIDEO: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.5 >>works correctly via test SOUND: ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2. AND Null2's Audio Driver 1.3 .... with the first 2 checked: "enable Sound (Select to enable ADPCM sound)" and "Enable CDDA Sound (Select to enable CDROM sound)" >> nothing happens when I click "test" for either of them CDROM: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2. >> again, nothing happens when I click "test" for this plugin BIOS: bios\scph1001.bin I'm also running the game right off the CD. I did some searches on the ePSXe forum, but wasn't able to find anything relevant. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Last edited by ackmondual; April 13th, 2004 at 03:44. |

well, i seemed to have fixed my FIRST problem. I did 2 things but i don't know which one of them (or both of them) did the trick, so i'll just list both of them and for any1 who needs a solution, you could try out both of them.
1) on the DOS command prompt, in the same directory that ePSXe is in, type in this command instead epsxe.exe '-noseekinxa'. Note that the option or parameter is in single quotes this time 2) Using the default ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2. sound plugin, I also checked the 3rd option Enable XA sound (Select to enable XA sound in MDEC) |

figured out #2 as well. Didn't know I was supposed to make a directory called "sstates" where the save states would be stored. Also didn't know about creating a directory called "memcards" for memory saves. Figured THAT out the hard way. Oh well, at least both of them are working.
To the authors, would it have killed ya to either include that info somewhere or have ePSXe auto create that directory? I kne that "snaps" was supposed to be created for snapshots b/c it was in the docs (online). Perhaps i missed it somewhere, but there was no mention of creating "sstates" and "memcards" anywhere. Other than that, GREAT emu. So easy to set up and get right down to business. I can see Y ppl are sticking with this emu even though PCSX and PCXeven have their fair share of advantages as well. |

Everytime I've installed ePSXe on my machine a folder for sstates and memcards were created, so I don't think its the authors fault.

1 - Use the edit button, don't triple post please.
2 - Regarding sound: The XA checkbox is the right choice. I suggest you to use eternal spu plugin 1.41 enabling the three top checkboxes under sound->config, and leaving the wourth one disabled. 3 - As Omen said, the package with epsxe contains dummy files in order to create the desired directories, so it's supposed to do it. Glad to hear you are doinf fine now. Enjoy your psx experience
