any way to trick games like SO2 and Legend of Mana into useing dualshock?

reason i ask is that in either game no matter what i tell the game itself/controller config to do the dual shock never seems to work, i know it works because it functions in other games like Spyro 2, BoF4, MMX5, and FFO.

just wondering if theres a method to force in game dual shock detection, thanks in advance
