Parasite Eve II problems, PAL version on ePSXe 1.60

The game seems to work well up to the end of the first section in the tower block.
A few crashes and freezes at the ends of fights but nothing that a couple of reloads won't fix, however once I've started on the way to dryfield the game freezes solid at the end of the cutscene.
Is this a known flaw and is there something I can do to sort this out?
Thanks.

Are u playing the game from a cd or iso? If from cd then try playing with an iso. I am just guessing but it could have something to do with the cd (scratch maybe?) that it is freezing at that particular cutscene.

try using ePSXe 1.5.2, and not using save states.

What exactly is an ISO and how would I get one? The cd works fine anyway as it's got no problems coping with the playstation, and no visible scratches on it. Bearing in mind that I've just downloaded the 1.6.0 version, and have not got the faintest idea what an ISO is, or does, or what you would feed one. :P

I'm willing to try the 1.5.2 version, but would the 'no save states' mean that I'd be restricted to the rare in game save points? If so then there may be a problem due to the crashes at every other fight ending.

When I try to go up the escalator part at the beginning-ish area it gives me a Spec whatever error and crashes.

now i can get over the movie part with bleem emulator but the quality is bad and it frozen sometime when you go again boss and enemy like the part when i have to fight the human transformed beast.(It has movie for it and show the human transformed into some kind of beast). the movie is ok but graphics for walking around and shooting is not that good with bleem. the quality is acceptable but the freezing in the screen is suck

Are you running an ISO or playing directly from CD? If it is the first case, didn't the program which made this ISO announce about errors? Your CD might be scratched or you just need to adjust your emulator. Post here espxe settings you use playing this game.
I looked over freezing problems of PE2 in this forum, but every thread overed in a dead-end. Many people seem to have this problem, but no one in the same place. Me too, by the way.
