Xenogears problem, no FMV sound, black displays

I've already checked out the threads regarding no sound in FMVs and I've eneabled the 3 checkboxes and use the Eternal sound plugin but no success so far. If there is any specific fix for this game please let me know.

Also, I get black screens with nothng happening when the village is under attack, i imagine this has to do with alpha transparencies not working properly or some such, a solution for that would also be appreciated.

I'm running on a Athlon 1Ghz and Radeon 9800Pro.

The black scen are nothing to do with 'alpha transparency'. It's to do with Framebuffer access and reads. If you had indeed checked out hte threads on Xenogears, you'd realise this.

yeah, i eventually figured out the black screen bit, but the audio in FMVs still isn't working. :/

What are your settings in Eternal?
Are you running from an ISO?

Output: SPUasync - Mode: Smooth
Misc: XA buffer is free enabled
Reverb : Neill's
Nothing else enabled.

and i'm running from a cue/bin image.

Are you using the "Run ISO" option? If so, try using Mooby's plugin and select "Run CDROM" instead. The sound works perfectly with my ISO's using that plugin

Try using the 'Thread' mode with a shorter buffer and disable the 'Wait till XA buffer is free' options.
IIRC you need one of hte special games fixes enabled for Xenogears.
