very low fps problem..

Whenver I try playing Final Fantasy 7 it runs at a very low fps. The FF7 i use is a ISO i made of the original. The fps goes something like 10-30 . It never goes higher and makes the battle fights very very long. I know its not supposed to be like this.

My Computer- AMD Athalon Processor
1.10 GHz
256 MB of RAM

These are the settings I used to play the game:
Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.5
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce2 MX/AGP/SSE/3DNOW!

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Window mode
- Internal X resolution: 1
- Internal Y resolution: 1
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off
- No render-to-texture: off

- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- TexWin pixel shader: off
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: off
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto (200)

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 1
- Framebuffer uploads: 0

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Mdec filter: off
- Screen filtering: on
- Shader effects: 0/1
- GF4/XP crash fix: off
- Game fixes: off [00000000]

Can anyone help me out?

Well, first we must note that you've only got a GeForce 2. That would probably be the reason for the low FPS.. try using the Direct3D driver, with the same resolution.

yeah, when I tried using the D3D plugins the graphics are pretty good but the fps is way too high. And everything moves way fast.

Turn on "FPS Limitation" and set the FPS limit to either auto, 60 (for NTSC games) or 50 (for PAL games).

It will say it on the disc and on the game case (US games say NTSC U/C on the CD and case). If you set the frame limiter to auto it should automatically detect the correct speed.
