For sure, you have a scratched CD or a corrupt ISO

In case 1, try makeing an ISO from it with CDRwin with the "retry on error" feature set to 50
In case 2, try buying the game if you don't have the CD

I am having a same problem, my game freezes when Ellie hears about the ethos headquarters and walks toward unconscious Fei, when she is walking towards him I see some yellow and green lines appear on the screen and then the whole screen turns red or yellow. I made an iso image from the original cd and tried that but it is still giving me the same problem. I also tried this game on PSXeven and it does the same thing.

Maybe there's a special effect at this moment that your plugin/grafic card isn't set to read correctly

Or your original your ISO is as corrupt as your CD is scratched
